Chapter 5: Join My Company as a Security Guard
“Divorced… divorced?!”
The words sent shockwaves through the crowd.
Everyone present widened their eyes in disbelief.
The dignified heiress of the Sun family, one of Hangzhou’s most renowned beauties, had just been divorced by Ye Fei!
“Very well, then it’s settled!” Lin Qiqing nodded slightly. “My junior has already divorced your family; from now on, you have no further ties. Farewell!”
“Alright!”
As the two departed, Old Madam Sun stood rooted to the spot, as if petrified.
The rest of the Sun family stared in stunned silence, unable to react for a long moment.
“Mother, what… what should we do?” Sun Fenghai asked with difficulty.
“What else can we do? This Ye Fei is truly something. Lin Qiqing is his senior, yet he didn’t tell us earlier. Clearly, it was all intentional!” Old Madam Sun gritted her teeth, finally coming to her senses. “Since we’ve lost Ye Fei, we mustn’t lose Gao Yangwei too! The engagement banquet will proceed as planned—there must be no mistakes!”
“Damn that bastard, he’s gone too far!” On the other side, Li Yueyao’s face was flushed with anger. “Shiyun, he publicly announced your divorce—how humiliating! This is outrageous!”
Draped in a flowing white gown, Sun Shiyun’s face was icy cold, her silver teeth clenched. “Anyone who dares divorce Sun Shiyun will pay the price! Ye Fei, just you wait!”
“Ladies and gentlemen, our deepest apologies. That was just a misunderstanding, a little joke! Let’s not forget, today is the engagement banquet of Young Master Gao and Miss Sun. Let’s move on to the main event…” At the Sun family's behest, the host tried to smooth things over.
Before he could finish, Sun Shiyun interrupted him. “I don’t think this engagement banquet needs to continue.”
“What? Shiyun, what are you doing?”
“You were supposed to be engaged to Yangwei, so why is it unnecessary now? Don’t let Ye Fei affect your mood—think of the bigger picture!”
“Sun Shiyun, don’t cause trouble…”
Old Madam Sun and the others rebuked her angrily.
Gao Yangwei’s expression grew grim as well. “Shiyun, are you ending things with me for Ye Fei’s sake?”
“No!” Sun Shiyun denied. “Gao Yangwei, I’m thinking of you! You heard what happened—Ye Fei divorced me in public! If we get engaged now, what would that make you? And what would that make me?”
“This…” Gao Yangwei was momentarily lost for words.
Indeed, Sun Shiyun had been divorced by Ye Fei!
If he went ahead with the engagement, wouldn’t that make him the fool picking up the pieces?
People would laugh at him!
“So, for your sake and mine, this engagement should be put on hold,” Sun Shiyun continued.
“Shiyun, you really are considerate! Don’t worry, I’ll handle everything. Next time, I’ll marry you with all due formality and splendor!” Gao Yangwei gritted his teeth. “Ye Fei, just you wait! So what if you’re Lin Qiqing’s junior? Flaunting your connections, pretending to be important—let’s see how I deal with you…”
Meanwhile, Ye Fei and Lin Qiqing had already arrived at a villa.
The décor was lavish, and there lingered a faint scent of perfume.
“Second Senior Sister, is this your place?” Ye Fei threw himself onto the sofa, stretching out contentedly.
Lin Qiqing’s brows knitted slightly. After a brief hesitation, she replied, “Yes.”
“Tsk tsk, as expected of you, Second Senior Sister. You’re loaded!” Ye Fei smacked his lips. “By the way, how did you find me? As far as I know, you shouldn’t recognize me.”
“Master gave me a heads-up,” Lin Qiqing replied coolly. “He told me to take good care of you.”
“So the old man finally did something reliable!” Ye Fei understood, his gaze sweeping over Lin Qiqing. He hadn’t expected his second senior sister to be so beautiful—
Even surpassing Sun Shiyun by a margin.
The very epitome of a queen.
“What are you staring at?” Lin Qiqing asked suddenly, her voice soft but cold.
“Heh, I’m admiring you, of course! You put even the most beautiful flowers to shame!” Ye Fei made no attempt to hide it.
“Shameless!” Lin Qiqing glared, her tone growing colder. “I dislike people who lack discipline. Master said you came to Hangzhou to fulfill your engagement to the Sun family. Now that it’s broken, what are your plans?”
“For the moment, none.” Ye Fei shrugged, thinking that his second senior sister seemed rather strict.
“In that case, I’ll make arrangements for you,” Lin Qiqing said. “My company is short on security guards. Starting tomorrow, you’ll report to the security team.”
“A sec—security guard?” Ye Fei was dumbfounded.
After all, he had trained for decades in the arts of medicine and combat.
Wherever he went, he was a man of status.
Yet his senior sister wanted him to work as a security guard!
Wasn’t that looking down on him a bit too much?
“Second Senior Sister, I don’t think I’m fit for that job…”
“I think you’re perfect for it!” Lin Qiqing’s tone left no room for argument. “You’re too undisciplined. You need to learn some rules, and starting from the ground up is best. If you perform well, I won’t treat you unfairly. Of course, if you’re unwilling, you can leave at any time. I may be your senior, but I don’t keep idle freeloaders around.”
Damn!
Ye Fei was frustrated.
It seemed his second senior sister was not merely strict—
She didn’t seem to like him much, either.
Still, remembering Master’s words—that all nine senior sisters were deeply connected to him—he knew he couldn’t afford any internal discord.
Since his second senior sister had an issue with him, he would go along with her arrangements and win her over with his actions.
“Fine, I’ll do as you say,” Ye Fei agreed.
Besides, his return to Hangzhou wasn’t just to find his senior sisters; he also needed to uncover his own origins.
It was best not to draw too much attention.
A security guard’s identity would serve as the perfect cover.
“Very well.” Lin Qiqing finally seemed satisfied. “I’ll inform HR. Report for duty tomorrow. Any other questions?”
“I heard from Master that Ninth Senior Sister is also in Hangzhou. Do you know her?” Ye Fei asked.
“She lives here too,” Lin Qiqing replied. “Your Ninth Senior Sister’s name is Zhou Danzhuang. She works at the constabulary and lives with me. Actually, the nine of us all know each other, but the other seven have their own affairs to attend to and are scattered around the world.”
“I see.” Ye Fei nodded.
“That’s enough for now. Your Ninth Senior Sister usually gets off work late. If you want to see her, I can arrange for us to have dinner together tomorrow.”
“Huh? Why?” Ye Fei was puzzled. “Doesn’t she live here? I can just see her after work.”
“Do you mean you’re staying here?” Lin Qiqing was surprised and sounded a little displeased.
“Where else would I stay?” Ye Fei countered.
“Well…” Lin Qiqing frowned. “Ye Fei, there are two women here. If you live with us, it’ll be very inconvenient. I’ll arrange a hotel for you, and later you can find a place to rent.”
“There’s no need for all that!” Ye Fei waved his hand dismissively. “Second Senior Sister, don’t worry. I’m easygoing—it won’t be inconvenient at all! Besides, you and Ninth Senior Sister are family. Why waste money? So, which room is mine?”
Lin Qiqing was taken aback. Clearly, this guy felt no need to be polite!
But remembering Master’s instructions, and considering Ye Fei had no other family in Hangzhou, it seemed a bit harsh to kick him out.
“First floor,” Lin Qiqing said. “But remember, the second floor is our private space. Don’t go upstairs without permission.”
“Second Senior Sister, we’re family—no need to be so formal…” Ye Fei waved it off, unconcerned.
Lin Qiqing felt a headache coming on and was about to speak when a roar of engines sounded outside the door.
Moments later, a young man in a tailored suit entered, holding a bouquet of fresh flowers—
