Chapter 122: The Turmoil Surrounding Bai Yaoyao
“Deal, then congratulations to President Ye for securing a full year’s revenue in just three months,” Gu Yanzhen said with a radiant smile, his eyes sparkling with joy, impossible to look away from.
Ye Fei rolled his eyes silently. The way this guy behaved around beautiful women was worlds apart from before. He thought to himself that he should have brought more senior sisters along.
“Alright, then please watch closely, President Gu,” Ye Fei replied.
Although Huijing was just a detective agency, its business was limited to the wealthy, since ordinary people rarely needed investigations on others.
Yet Ye Fei saw a business opportunity: the information channels that detectives had could be leveraged well. The current market was too rigid; a new business line was needed—catching mistresses!
No woman would tolerate her husband’s infidelity, and previous detective services hadn’t dared to touch this area. Now it could be exploited perfectly.
When Gu Yanzhen learned of Ye Fei’s new project, he immediately disapproved. “No way! How could we do that? Huijing is a detective agency, not some third-rate company or a miscellaneous shop taking any job!”
Ye Fei narrowed his eyes slightly. Gu Yanzhen’s strong opposition hinted at hidden reasons. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so foolish as to oppose money.
“President Gu, are you afraid of this project because the harm might affect you personally?” Bai Yaoyao said nonchalantly, then turned to Ye Fei. “Junior brother, when things are abnormal, there must be something fishy. Don’t you think so?”
Senior sisters are truly reliable!
Clearing his throat, Ye Fei pressed on, “President Gu, you’re not afraid your wife might come after you, are you?”
Gu Yanzhen jumped up from his chair, his face slightly embarrassed. “No, no! I’ve always been loyal to my wife.”
If not for a formidable wife back home, his company probably wouldn’t be so successful. Ye Fei had heard rumors of a talented and strong wife, and seeing Gu Yanzhen’s reaction, he grew curious about her.
“That’s right, President Gu and Mrs. Gu are truly devoted to each other!” Ye Fei joked, instructing his team to proceed without regard for Gu Yanzhen’s objections.
Once outside the company, Bai Yaoyao linked arms with Ye Fei. “Junior brother, I’ve helped you quite a bit. How will you repay me?”
Ye Fei looked at her seriously, a teasing glint in his eyes. “Marry me? Is that acceptable?”
Bai Yaoyao’s cheeks flushed as she quickly withdrew her hand. She had thought she understood all men’s psychology, but Ye Fei unsettled her instantly.
Ye Fei tapped her forehead lightly. “Senior sister, I mean I vow from now on to always follow your lead.”
Bai Yaoyao smiled awkwardly, covering her rosy cheeks. Just as she was about to get into the car, a hand stopped her.
“Miss Bai, you’re making it easy for us to find you.”
Ten men dressed in black stood by the car, led by a haughty man who looked like a butler.
Bai Yaoyao stepped back, pale-faced. “What do you want? It’s broad daylight, don’t cause trouble.”
The arrogant man sneered, his expression fierce. “Not trouble, just inviting Miss Bai to come with us. Let’s go.”
Ye Fei held Bai Yaoyao protectively. “Brother, where are you taking my senior sister? This is my senior sister!”
The arrogant man laughed mockingly, spat on the ground, and said impatiently, “Miss Bai, I don’t care about your senior brother relationship. Just come back and get married.”
Ye Fei scratched his head and looked at Bai Yaoyao. “Senior sister, are you running from a marriage?”
Bai Yaoyao glared. “No! I’m not running away! They’re forcing me to marry a rich second generation I don’t like.”
Ye Fei had always regarded third senior sister Bai Yaoyao as a popular actress, unaware of her complicated family background and power.
“Senior sister, don’t worry. I don’t know what’s going on, but I will protect you.”
It seemed the master wasn’t useless after all; the disciple trained was more helpful than the teacher.
Bai Yaoyao winked and hid behind Ye Fei. “This is my junior brother. His fighting skills are off the charts. You goons aren’t even worth a crumb to him. Smart ones, apologize now and leave.”
Ye Fei smiled awkwardly, speechless at Bai Yaoyao behind him.
He whispered, “Senior sister, why apologize? Don’t ask for too much, keep it simple.”
Bai Yaoyao urged from behind, “No! These bastards insulted me before. You beat them up first, then I’ll sue again.”
…
This senior sister was different from the other two—those two were independent and didn’t cause trouble. This young lady seemed to specialize in finding trouble.
Ye Fei sighed, rubbing his nose, and weakly said to the men, “Go away quickly, or I’ll have to cripple you.”
The arrogant man gave a bitter smile and stared at Ye Fei. “Look at you, so weak yet daring to talk back? I admire your courage, but I’m not falling for it. Smart ones, step aside. I’m taking this woman.”
This stalemate couldn’t continue. Ye Fei sighed. Since they came looking for trouble, he wouldn’t hold back.
“Alright then, if you want a sparring partner, come at me!” Ye Fei said nonchalantly.
The arrogant man had never been treated like this. His face went pale in anger. “Attack! Take them all down!”
Ye Fei stood ready to strike when one man pulled out something like an ancient bronze mirror, holding it smugly towards Ye Fei.
What was that?
“What’s that in your hand?” Ye Fei’s spiritual energy flickered lightly. The other nine men froze on the spot.
The man looked at the mirror, then at his frozen comrades, unsure what to do.
“What magic is that? You monster!” he stared at Ye Fei in terror, eyes about to pop out.
“Of course it’s magic that can defeat you. What’s your bronze mirror for? Hand it over; I promise I won’t hurt you,” Ye Fei extended his hand, signaling him to give it.
The man hesitated, mumbling, “No, it’s not mine. Kill me if you want, but I won’t give it to you.”
Bai Yaoyao finally lost patience. “Are you crazy? If you die, won’t that thing be ours?”
