Under Yao Ye’s devoted care, Liu Xin’s complexion gradually regained its rosy hue, and she became more spirited each day. Every time Yao Ye visited her, he couldn’t help but feel elated.

“Senior Sister, it’s finally my turn to take care of you! Hurry up and get well!” For the past half month, Yao Ye had tended to Liu Xin without fail, not missing a single day. Today, as he stood up and noticed how late it had grown outside, he sighed, “Looks like there’s no hope again today.”

He cast a tender glance at Liu Xin, who was lying on the bed, smiled softly, then closed the door and made his way back to his own quarters. Not long after Yao Ye left, a powerful surge of vitality swept through Liu Xin’s room, enveloping it in a dense aura of life. In this stroke of fortune born from misfortune, Liu Xin had unwittingly discovered her own path. Undisturbed, this energy continued to flow well into the night, and Liu Xin, who had been deep in slumber, slowly awakened.

The next morning, Yao Ye arrived at Liu Xin’s quarters as usual. He gently pushed open her door, only to be greeted by a sudden scream.

Clutching her clothes in front of her, Liu Xin pointed at the doorway, shouting angrily at Yao Ye, “Ah! You scoundrel! Get out! How can you just barge in without knocking?”

Yao Ye, flustered and panicked, fumbled to shut the door, but in his haste, turned and banged hard into it.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean it, I didn’t see anything!” he stammered.

Liu Xin’s face was flushed with embarrassment, and she shouted, “You’re still talking? Get out, now!”

Yao Ye practically fled, closing the door behind him. Outside, he leapt up with joy. “Wonderful! Senior Sister is finally awake! She’s awake! Hahaha!”

Inside, Liu Xin couldn’t help but chuckle at Yao Ye’s frantic behavior.

But then she paused. “Wait, that voice was Yao Ye’s, but why did he look like a middle-aged man?” Growing increasingly suspicious, she dressed quickly and hurried outside.

Seeing his senior sister emerge, Yao Ye rushed over, head bowed like a chastened child.

“Senior Sister, I’m sorry! I thought you were still unconscious—I didn’t expect…” He scratched his head sheepishly.

Looking at Yao Ye’s graying hair and wrinkled face, Liu Xin’s heart ached. She scolded him sternly, “Yao Ye, tell me the truth! What exactly did you do? Don’t think you can hide it from me—I’ll find out sooner or later! If I learn you’ve deceived me, I’ll never speak to you again!”

Yao Ye was taken aback, then forced a laugh. “It’s nothing, Senior Sister. You were hurt, so I just used my innate ability, Life Sharing, to save you.”

Liu Xin knew the truth was far more complicated, and tears welled in her eyes from gratitude.

“Oh, please don’t cry, Senior Sister! I know I was wrong today—I promise I’ll knock next time!”

Remembering Yao Ye’s awkwardness moments earlier, Liu Xin couldn’t help but laugh, hastily stifling her amusement.

“Senior Sister, you should smile more! You look so beautiful when you smile.”

Liu Xin stepped forward and embraced Yao Ye tightly. “Thank you, Yao Ye! Even after all I’ve done, you still care for me and accept me. I…”

Yao Ye quickly interrupted her, gently pushing her away. “Senior Sister, neither of us owes the other anything. If you must blame someone, blame those damn Demons!”

As he mentioned the Demons, Yao Ye suddenly froze, panic flickering across his face. “Um, Senior Sister, I wasn’t cursing you! Haha, sorry, I forgot for a moment!”

Liu Xin shook her head gently. “No, Yao Ye, you’re right. From now on, I am no longer one of them. This is my home now. But my parents…”

“Don’t worry, Senior Sister, I’ll help you rescue your family!”

Liu Xin nodded gratefully, then tapped her forehead in realization. “Yao Ye, I’m so foolish—I was so caught up talking to you that I forgot to tell you! I’ve found my path forward. Come, let me examine you first.”

Yao Ye looked at her in confusion. “Senior Sister, you’ve found your path? What is it?”

Liu Xin smiled mysteriously. “I’m not telling you yet! First, let me check your condition and see if I can help.”

Without giving him a chance to protest, Liu Xin took Yao Ye’s arm, her brow furrowing as she examined him. “Yao Ye, why is your life force so thin? And your potential is nearly exhausted!”

Yao Ye averted his gaze, unable to meet her eyes. “It’s nothing, Senior Sister. It’s all in the past.”

Liu Xin guessed it was likely because of her. Seeing Yao Ye unwilling to speak further, she resolved never to let him down and to repay him a thousandfold.

Seeing Liu Xin lost in thought, Yao Ye assumed she was worrying about his condition and tried to comfort her. “Senior Sister, don’t worry, everything will work out. I already have a preliminary plan.”

Drawn from her reverie, Liu Xin turned away and spoke softly, “Yao Ye, you should go back now. Come see me again tomorrow morning—I have something to take care of today.”

Yao Ye looked at her uncertainly. “Senior Sister, do you want me to go with you?”

“No need. You should rest well tonight. Bring a change of clothes with you tomorrow.”

Seeing she wouldn’t say more, Yao Ye could only leave, looking back with every step.

With a gentle laugh, Liu Xin caught up and placed a light kiss on his forehead. Though it was just a brief touch, Yao Ye grinned foolishly, caressing the spot.

Blushing, Liu Xin tapped him on the forehead. “Silly! Go home now. Tomorrow, I’ll tell you everything you want to know.”

Yao Ye nodded happily and took his leave.
