Chapter Thirty-Four: Domain
After a moment of surprise, Red Eyes launched another attack on Demon Night. "Even if you can break my mental assault, let’s see if you can withstand my martial skills! Procession of a Hundred Spirits!"
"Still using your old tricks? Do you really think you can win against me this way?" The demon scoffed, coldly mocking Red Eyes as he watched the attack. "Form and shadow, inseparable!" This time, Demon Night was no longer on the defensive; with each clash, he deftly redirected Red Eyes’ strikes, gradually exposing flaws in Red Eyes’ movements. Out of a hundred attacks, Demon Night finally found an opening.
"Now’s my chance—take this, Red Eyes! Devouring Waves, consume all things!" Seizing the gap as Red Eyes overextended, Demon Night launched his own attack.
Red Eyes, panic-stricken, saw Demon Night's assault coming. He knew he couldn’t withstand it head-on, but he was exhausted—his old strength spent, new power still unsteady. With no other choice, Red Eyes resolved to retreat, hoping to dodge the blow. Demon Night, seeing through his intent, gave a dismissive snort. "You think you can escape my range so easily? You underestimate me!" As Red Eyes made contact with Demon Night's attack, he was forced several steps back.
Unfamiliar with Demon Night's martial arts, Red Eyes suffered a heavy loss. Demon Night pressed the attack, taunting him as he struck. "Did you think my move ended so simply? Devouring Waves is like the endless tide—each wave stronger than the last. You’ll find that out soon enough!"
Assailed by wave after wave, blood once more trickled from the corner of Red Eyes’ mouth. "This can’t go on! If it does, I’ll lose more than I gain!" Driven to desperation, Red Eyes was forced to adopt a mutually destructive strategy. He took the brunt of Demon Night’s strike, his body sent flying by Heaven’s Scar.
Red Eyes climbed to his feet, wiped the blood from his lips, and glared at Demon Night with a dark expression. "You’ve succeeded in angering me! Today, I’ll use your blood to wash away my shame!"
At that moment, Red Eyes’ twin spectral claws radiated a soul-chilling light. "To force me to this point—you should be proud! If you can break this final move, I’ll let you walk away. Blood Sea Tides!" A pool of blood appeared beneath Demon Night's feet.
"This… Is that a domain attack only mastered at the peak of spiritual communion?" Peng Lei and Li Qin exclaimed in shock. "This is bad! Our junior is in danger!" Zhao Mu, witnessing the scene, could hardly restrain himself from rushing to help.
"Hold on, Zhao Mu! Even if we all charged in, we couldn’t break Red Eyes’ domain. See—our junior isn’t panicking. He must have something planned. If he truly can’t hold out, even at the cost of my life, I’ll go to his aid!" Zhao Mu gritted his teeth, holding back the urge to act. Tension and worry etched across his and Peng Lei’s faces as they prepared to intervene at a moment’s notice, ready to support Demon Night.
Within the blood pool, illusions began to swirl around Demon Night, but Red Eyes was unaware that Demon Night possessed the Creation Cauldron, rendering him immune to mental attacks. Demon Night, seeing his companions’ concern, signaled with his eyes for them to wait.
"Since that’s how it is, I’ll play along and lure you in," Demon Night thought, lowering Heaven’s Scar and letting a vacant look settle in his gaze. Seeing Demon Night’s dazed expression, Red Eyes couldn’t help but laugh. "Prepare to die, Demon Night!"
Red Eyes lunged with his spectral claws, closing in fast. Demon Night remained slack-jawed, unmoving, causing Red Eyes to lower his guard.
Just as the claws were about to seize Demon Night’s throat, Demon Night’s eyes flashed with cunning. "You’ve fallen for it—die!" He seized Heaven’s Scar and swept it with all his might at Red Eyes’ waist. Red Eyes, caught off guard, hastily tried to block with his claws, but in his panic, Heaven’s Scar struck him hard, sending him flying. A crack of breaking bones echoed through the air. Red Eyes collapsed in the blood pool, lying silent and still.
"Now’s your chance, junior! Finish him off!" Peng Lei couldn’t help but shout.
"You little wretch! How dare you harm our young master—I’ll leave you without a grave!" The surrounding demons could no longer keep calm, surging forward to attack Demon Night.
"Stop! Stand down—all of you! Anyone who makes a move, I’ll take their life first!" Red Eyes sat up, furious, and barked his order.
"Boy! It’s not over yet. Did you think this was enough to defeat me? Hmph! Too naive. Did you really believe my domain was so simple? Take your time—see for yourself!" With that, Red Eyes closed his eyes and began meditating to recover.
