Chapter Thirty-Five: Counterattack from the Brink

Just as Demon Night was about to step forward and deliver a finishing blow, he realized his feet were bound! He frowned, exerting all his strength to lift his legs, but they didn’t budge at all.

“Hmph! Did you really think breaking through my domain attack would be so easy? You’ll have to endure it slowly!” Red Eyes glanced sidelong at Demon Night, sneering with contempt. Demon Night saw himself being ensnared, and quietly encouraged himself, “I mustn’t act recklessly. There’s definitely a way to break free—I just haven’t found it yet!” Closing his eyes, he searched his mind for a solution.

Time passed bit by bit. Demon Night opened his eyes in confusion. “What’s happening? Why does it feel like this blood pool is siphoning off my spiritual energy?”

Red Eyes stood and laughed loudly at Demon Night. “What’s wrong? You’ve finally noticed? Don’t you think it’s too late to realize it now? When you’re so weak you can’t even stand, how do you plan to fight me? Let me tell you, inside this blood pool, all the energy you lose becomes mine! Hahaha... Demon Night, prepare to die!”

With those words, Red Eyes formed a spell with one hand and closed his eyes, causing Demon Night’s energy to drain even faster.

“No! I can’t let this continue! Elder Ding, do you have any good ideas? At this rate, I won’t even have the strength to stand, let alone defeat Red Eyes!” Demon Night anxiously consulted Elder Ding.

“There is a way to break free from the blood pool. The first is brute force, but unfortunately your strength isn’t greater than his, so that path is blocked. The second is to use fire, or purification power, to evaporate the blood pool! Those are the only two methods!” Elder Ding looked at Demon Night with helplessness.

“It seems there’s no other way. I’ll have to use that technique!” Demon Night gritted his teeth, resolute. Elder Ding hurriedly warned him, “Demon Night, you want to use that move? Aren’t you afraid you’ll lose control and die first?”

“There’s no better option now! Besides that, I can’t think of any other way!” Demon Night stopped Elder Ding from trying to dissuade him further. He slowly stimulated the demon core star within his body with his spiritual power.

Standing in the blood pool, Red Eyes stared at Demon Night in shock. He sensed a destructive force emanating from Demon Night’s body. In an instant, Demon Night’s body radiated a brilliant light.

“That light—! Oh no! Hurry, Demon Night and the others are in danger. He’s used such an attack before!” Liu Xin said urgently to Dean Tang Ze. Tang Ze looked up, feeling the oppressive energy. His expression changed dramatically. “What is that brat doing? Quickly, everyone move faster, we’re almost there—those kids are in danger!”

Red Eyes watched as Demon Night slowly opened his eyes, which shone with an overwhelming, soul-rending brilliance. For the first time, Red Eyes felt the urge to flee. Suppressing his desire to retreat, Red Eyes decided to seize the initiative and launched an attack on Demon Night.

“Hmph! Enough with your tricks. Today, I’ll sacrifice you to strengthen my domain. Strongest attack—Demonic Surge Across Mountains and Rivers!” The blood waves surged violently with Red Eyes’ assault.

Facing Red Eyes’ attack, Demon Night remained calm, slowly raising the Sky Scar in his hand and slashing fiercely at the blood pool. With a thunderous crash, the blood pool split in two! Red Eyes staggered, coughing up a mouthful of blood. The destruction of the blood pool had backfired on him, disrupting his strongest attack.

Demon Night continued his assault on the blood pool, the blade of Sky Scar enveloped in the light of his internal star. Wherever it passed, the blood pool melted instantly like ice exposed to intense heat! The damage to the blood pool forced Red Eyes to spit up several more mouthfuls of blood. Clutching his chest, he staggered back a few steps, unable to endure any longer, and dropped to one knee, sitting to meditate and recover.

“Wretch! I’ll cripple you yet. Young Master, are you all right?” Several demon and monster clan members rushed forward, carrying Red Eyes to safety before launching a full-scale attack on Demon Night.

“Junior Brother, be careful!” Zhao Mu and Peng Lei, who had been watching the battle closely, hurried toward Demon Night. “Senior Brother, listen to me! Soon I’ll create a chance for you all to escape—you must seize it!” Demon Night stopped Peng Lei and spoke quietly.

After hearing this, Zhao Mu grasped Demon Night’s arm. “Junior Brother, we won’t leave you behind! If we go, we go together; if we die, we die together!” Demon Night used the immense energy of his internal star to break free from Zhao Mu and Peng Lei’s hold, unleashing a powerful attack at the advancing enemies.

“What’s happening? Why does it feel like my spiritual energy is being suppressed?” several demon clan experts exclaimed in unison. The situation was instantly stalled.

“This is our chance—run!” Li Qin and Sun Kaide exchanged a glance and dashed toward the cave exit, one after the other.

“Senior Brother, hurry and go! If you don’t, I won’t be able to fight freely. Remember how my attacks during our duel were far more powerful than this—I have a way to escape!”

“No! We won’t leave, we want to stay and help you,” Zhao Mu stubbornly moved to assist, but Peng Lei grabbed his arm. “Do you want Junior Brother to be dragged down by us and die? Let’s get out first!” Peng Lei dragged Zhao Mu toward the cave entrance.
