Chapter 104: You Do Not Pamper Me At All
After forgetting the River of Oblivion’s mood improved countless times, he finally succumbed to exhaustion and fell asleep.
As for me, my situation was even more miserable—I had slept for three days straight and still felt utterly drained!
I barely got out of bed, only drinking some milk and eating a bit of fruit, then lying down again.
The River of Oblivion said that the little one inside was eagerly consuming the nutrients it had missed out on recently.
I laughed at him—just as greedy as his big cat father.
Those two were alike in many ways; both had a knack for bullying others.
Yet, despite all that, I was genuinely happy. Every day, a smile crept onto my lips, even when my body was limp and weak, I was joyful.
The River of Oblivion kissed me every day. Whenever he did, I felt a warmth inside my belly, while his body grew cooler.
I was a bit worried, fully aware of what was happening.
His wounds had only recently healed, and now he was pushing himself again for my sake.
Before, I never realized he was nourishing me with his life force. It wasn’t until that doctor cat mentioned it that I finally understood and started paying attention to his actions.
I didn’t want him to feed me like that, mainly because he hadn’t performed soul-shaping in a long time, and the last attempt had failed.
In that situation, how could I bear to trouble him again?
So, even though I sometimes felt too uncomfortable to eat or drink, I still tried to force myself to take in more.
As I ate, I wasn’t sure if it was my spirit suddenly gaining strength or what, but I actually began to feel a bit more energetic.
“Master, I want to go outside.”
I had nagged him countless times, wanting to get out.
“I swear I won’t run off; I just want to bask in the sun.”
“If I turned into a cat and went out, no one would even notice me.”
After repeating this so many times, the big cat—who still seemed a bit frightened by my ‘running off’—finally nodded.
“Come back before dark.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah!” I eagerly agreed and dashed outside, fearing he might change his mind.
The first to notice me was Fish Treasure.
“Hey! Isn’t this the bride? Finally willing to get out of bed and leave the house?”
I shook my paws, happily raising my eyebrows at him.
Though I wasn’t sure if cats really had eyebrows, I certainly looked proud.
“Aren’t you supposed to be tending to your wife at home? Why are you wandering around?”
“Isn’t the wife not here?”
Fish Treasure tilted his head, motioning me to look beside him. What I saw startled me.
Xiaomi was lying on a high stone platform, a cushion beneath her belly, a cone stuck in front of her head, eyes half-closed, happily licking it.
I hadn’t been out for just a week, yet Xiaomi’s belly had suddenly grown so much!
“How many?!” I asked in horror.
“Two or maybe three. They move around sometimes,” Fish Treasure answered professionally.
This guy was already a prospective father.
I was insanely envious, instinctively touching my own belly.
Fish Treasure’s eyes widened. “You’re pregnant too?!”
“No… no way so soon…”
“Don’t fool me. Cats don’t touch their bellies like that unless they’re expecting. As your seasoned pregnancy assistant, Fish Treasure concludes: stop lying—you’re definitely pregnant!”
Xiaomi lifted her head. “What are you two talking about?”
Sure enough, about to be a mother, her voice wasn’t as heavy as before but sounded almost like a normal cat’s.
“Can I touch your belly?”
I interrupted Fish Treasure’s teasing and Xiaomi flipped onto her back.
“Go ahead!”
Trembling, I climbed up, hesitantly raising my paw and gently pressing it on Xiaomi’s wobbly big belly.
Inside, I could feel something rolling and even fragile little paws scratching!
It was absolutely wonderful!
Xiaomi had just eaten ice cream and was licking it with a smacking sound.
“Stinky Fish Treasure, I want seaweed.”
“Seaweed?”
“I also want ribs!”
“Ribs with seaweed?”
“And tofu.”
“Ribs and seaweed stew with tofu?”
“Cold.”
Fish Treasure’s mind was full of chaotic little stars. He jumped up, transformed into human form, and carefully cradled Xiaomi in his arms.
“Shall we go to a restaurant in the human world, or should I buy it for you? Stewed or mixed?”
His patience seemed endless!
“I want you to buy it,” Xiaomi said, swaying, half-closing her eyes and nuzzling his face with her wet nose as she stood up from his arms.
“Alright, I’ll go buy it. You wait here?”
“I’ll go with you…”
“Aren’t you—” Fish Treasure sighed. “Fine. Qianqian, we’re leaving first. She’ll start fussing if she’s hungry.”
I raised my paw and waved goodbye, watching Xiaomi sitting comfortably in Fish Treasure’s embrace, utterly relaxed!
Envy!
Capitalized envy!
How could they be so carefree?
How could touching a belly lead to such a bond?
Covering my face, I fumed for a while before turning around and swiftly running back to the Hall of Reverence!
As soon as I entered, the River of Oblivion saw me. He was holding a water cup, drinking, but set it down when he noticed me.
“Why did you come back so soon?”
“Master, I want to be held!”
I raised my paws, waiting for him to pick me up. Then, with a face full of relief, I lay in his arms.
“Master, I want ice cream!”
“No.”
His answer was flat, without any emotion.
“Why not?” I looked up at him, wondering why he was so different from Fish Treasure.
“Pregnant cats can’t eat ice cream.”
“I want to! Xiaomi’s eating it too!”
His gaze grew cold, scrutinizing me as if doubtful.
“Then I want seaweed too. Take me to eat it!”
“There’s some in the kitchen. I’ll have someone make it for you.”
“Make sure there are ribs.”
“There are.”
“Tofu too.”
“There is.”
“Cold.”
“Alright.”
His replies all stayed on the same pitch, as if agreeing to everything I asked!
But I was not satisfied!
“This isn’t good for you!”
I angrily tapped my paws, glaring at his indifferent expression, so unlike Fish Treasure’s.
“Do you really want to eat it?”
“I… I don’t care! You’re just not good to me!”
“Is that so?” The River of Oblivion raised an eyebrow and set me down on the table.
“Wuwu, you’re not gentle at all.”
“What counts as gentle?”
“You should be gentle like Fish Treasure—patient and caring! You speak little but show affection a lot. I wouldn’t like you otherwise…”
“Affection… how much recently?”
“None,” I shrank my neck. “Anyway, Fish Treasure is the ultimate good dad, and you don’t pamper me.”
“Well then,” he twirled his fingers as if thinking of a solution.
I looked at him expectantly. Would I be able to sit in his arms and go everywhere, be spoiled?
“Tomorrow, I’ll order to marry you off to Fish Treasure.”
“Aaah!” I screamed miserably. “How can you be so heartless, shameless, and unreasonable!”
“I’m not only heartless, shameless, and unreasonable, I’m also saying you’re forbidden to go out anymore. Continue your punishment—no baby, no going out.”
I was utterly flustered.
His was called a husband, mine was called a master.
They weren’t even in the same class!
Soon, I peeked out the window and saw Fish Treasure carrying Xiaomi, holding several bags of things he’d bought.
Wuwuwu, envy, jealousy, hatred!
But when I turned around, I saw the River of Oblivion actually holding a bag of cones and ice cream!
“For me??”
“For my cub.”
I happily pounced, rummaging through the bag!
Since I died, I hadn’t eaten ice cream. Everything looked delicious.
But the River of Oblivion wouldn’t give me any at once. He picked me up suddenly.
“Are you sure you want to eat?”
“I’m sure!” I clung to his waist, nodding.
“You may only eat one.”
“Alright.”
Reluctantly, I agreed and picked the biggest box!
Too lazy to change back to human form, I hugged the small box and began licking, savoring it deliciously!
But by evening, my stomach began to upset!
“Master, I feel sick…” I squatted in a small basin, unwilling to shift back to human form even during diarrhea.
The River of Oblivion crouched beside me, stroking my head.
“I told you not to eat it. Xiaomi has been pregnant a long time, and you just found out a few days ago.”
“Then why didn’t you tell me earlier…”
“You said I didn’t love you.”
I was completely defeated. Fine, love me, love me so much that I get diarrhea.
But while dealing with it, looking at my unpleasant little mess, for some reason, I thought of Rebecca.
Curious, I looked at the River of Oblivion.
“Why haven’t I seen Rebecca at all since I came back?”
