I Can Summon Paratroopers A slightly rounded belly 2431 words 2026-04-11 17:35:44

Gao Ning merely paused his vehicle for a moment to clear the road, tossed out a bear, and continued on his way.

For the three cannibal brothers, however, it was a sudden catastrophe. Having seen on their monitors that someone had triggered their trap, they were excitedly preparing to reap their harvest when a black bear over three meters tall suddenly descended from the sky, swatting their eldest brother to death with a single blow.

The second brother froze, reflexively pulling the trigger, but his shots missed. Before he could react, he was swatted into a pulp by the enraged beast. The third brother, smaller in stature and agile, managed to roll away and avoid the bear's initial strike. He scrambled to pick up his shotgun and fired two consecutive shots. The bullets struck the bear, but there was no visible blood; the creature merely shuddered, not even taking a step back.

Clearly infuriated by the attack, the bear unleashed a deafening roar, the shockwave leaving the third brother dizzy and disoriented. In his dazed state, he raised his gun, only to realize he was out of ammunition. A massive paw was already right before his eyes. With one swipe, the third brother’s small frame was cut in half, gore splattered the air, and his remains were scattered across the ground.

The bear let out a final growl, shook its body—causing two bullets to fall from its hide—and then, having checked its surroundings, strolled gracefully into the depths of the forest. The entire ordeal was lightning-fast; from the bear’s arrival to the demise of the three brothers, less than a minute had passed.

The three cannibal brothers were truly unlucky. After terrorizing the region for decades, even baffling the police, they had been casually wiped out by a passerby. If they learned the truth in the afterlife, they would surely die of anger all over again.

Gao Ning remained oblivious to the entire affair and gave it no further thought. To him, he had simply deployed a neutral unit to eliminate three potential threats. The refresh rate for the bears was simply too high; there were already over a hundred of them gathered in the castle. Although these bio-engineered creatures didn't require food to function, their massive size was becoming an issue. A week ago, Gao Ning had stopped deploying them. This had merely been an act of convenience, and the results were quite satisfactory.

While Gao Ning traveled in leisure with beautiful company, Liang Bing’s group was teetering on the edge of survival.

The four of them gathered in a basement, the atmosphere heavy. Dao Zai held a rifle, aiming at the entrance, listening intently for a moment before relaxing. "It seems he has given up for now," he told the others. "We’ve bought ourselves some breathing room."

The group let out a sigh of relief. Liang Bing pulled several small, palm-sized circular mirrors from her coat, tapped them, and handed them out. "Replenish your energy. These contain bubble tea I stored earlier, packed with red beans and barley. It’s enough to fill your stomachs."

Zhou Banxian quickly took one, smiling. "I knew you’d have a way!" He chuckled, produced a straw from nowhere, and inserted it carefully, steadying the mirror with one hand to keep it from tipping. After a deep sip, the creamy liquid filled his mouth, and the scent alone smoothed the wrinkles on his face. "Delicious, truly delicious—it’s even still warm!"

As he rambled in delight, the other three drank greedily. After a hearty intake, their nerves finally began to settle. Dong Huawen wiped his mouth and smiled bitterly. "How much longer must we live like rats in hiding? It’s been over two weeks since we entered this mission world. If not for Liang Bing’s ability to store food and water, we would have starved to death long ago."

Liang Bing waved a hand. "I’m just support. Without upgrades, my ability only goes so far. We owe our survival to Dao Zai’s skills."

Dao Zai grinned. "What time is it to be trading compliments? We’re alive not because of one person, but because we work well together. Liang Bing handles logistics, Zhou Banxian’s divination keeps us safe from harm, and Dong Huawen’s sharp mind helps us decipher the situation. I only serve as the gunner because my sixth sense warns me of danger, and my experience on the battlefield gave me the nerve for it. Let's not pass the credit around; we’re alive because of our cooperation."

The group nodded in agreement.

Liang Bing sighed, "If only Gao Ning were with us. He has the ability to summon Red Alert units and command forces. Unfortunately..."

Dong Huawen continued, "Unfortunately, this is his fourth mission world. Not only is he unable to receive our messages, but he was also dropped into a completely different location."

Dao Zai asked, "Are you certain?"

Dong Huawen nodded. "Based on Zhou Banxian’s divination patterns and the loud noises from our recent skirmishes, we can conclude we are in a sealed-off town. No one can get out, and no one can get in. It has become a special, enclosed space. On the surface, there are three factions: us, the opposing team, and the killer, Myers. But in reality, there is a fourth faction: the natives."

Liang Bing frowned. "The natives have no combat capability. Myers is no longer human; he can be wounded by firearms, but he can never be killed. Half the police force is already dead, and no one has stopped him. Some residents are oblivious, while others are panicking like ants on a hot pan. They can't help us."

Dong Huawen shook his head. "Wrong. The Mysterious Train dropped us into this specific plot for a reason—there is an advantage we can exploit. Don’t forget, this isn’t just any American town; this is the world of *Halloween*. There is a protagonist, and the antagonist is Myers, but the true focal point is the elderly woman whom her daughter and granddaughter have dismissed as insane for forty years. She was the only one to escape Myers forty years ago. She has become his obsession. Whenever he has a chance, he will go after her first."

Dong Huawen adjusted his glasses. "Forgive me, I’ve forgotten her name, but she is the key. Myers’s obsession with her slows his killing pace, and the reason he occasionally stops his pursuit is likely because of her. Therefore..."
