Chapter 101: The New Recruit

In a picturesque valley, he played the role of Tarzan, reveling in the freedom of running wild while also mapping out the exclusive carriage’s area. The current space measured roughly one square kilometer, encompassing half a lake and more than half a forest. He had taken the central portion, leaving the other half as a visual effect. When touched, the soft barrier could still be felt—somewhat elastic yet incredibly resilient, like a wall of nuts, never yielding an inch.
Though it differed somewhat from his expectations, his domain had suddenly expanded by several hundred times, much to Gao Ning’s delight. After some wild frolicking, he returned to the cliffside villa, enjoyed a sumptuous meal, then lay in bed to continue studying the reward he had obtained last time.
A magical item card.
An unremarkable card, the same size as an upgrade card, but instead of an upward arrow, this one bore the image of a treasure chest. Gao Ning lightly tapped the chest; it trembled slightly before suddenly opening.
A burst of light flashed.
A Time Bundle!
The card vanished, and a piece of cloth adorned with time patterns drifted down. The front was red, the back blue. It looked plain and unassuming, yet Gao Ning nearly popped his eyes out. It truly was a divine-level item—and one straight out of Doraemon’s magical toolkit.
Was the Mysterious Train really this extravagant?
Gao Ning narrowed his eyes, realizing that defeating hostile groups brought such extraordinary rewards. He had thought the thirty stasis cards from the first round were impressive enough, but now he discovered the existence of magical items.
By comparison, the storage card seemed rather ordinary. Tossing a card printed with a backpack image into the air, it gently swayed before shattering with a boom. An invisible energy flowed into Gao Ning’s body, and suddenly a one-meter cubic dimensional space appeared before his eyes.
Gao Ning curled his lips—only one cubic meter? Even the Castle Fruit’s internal space was larger. Of course, in terms of concealment and time-freezing effects, the Castle Fruit’s internal space could not compare with a dimensional space.
The Time Bundle was marvelous, but without an immediate use, he stowed it in the storage space for now.

Having dealt with important matters, Gao Ning relaxed. Returning to his second-floor bedroom, he slept soundly for over ten hours before rising and heading straight to his workshop.
When he first entered the exclusive carriage, Gao Ning had spent two full years elevating his computer skills to an extraordinary level. While hardware required proper conditions, he had already prepared a wealth of functional software—especially for hacking and information gathering—continuously modifying and upgrading, drawing inspiration from the Elysium Space’s technology.
Any one of these programs would cause a seismic upheaval if brought into the real world. Of course, with no shortage of money, Gao Ning had no intention of causing trouble in the real world; he was content to live quietly as a wealthy man.
As for other mission dimensions, he would decide based on the situation. But it was always wise to be prepared.
After over two months in the exclusive carriage, he reviewed a computer science textbook from the basics, filling gaps and reinforcing his memory. Confident in his computer skills, Gao Ning could now proudly call himself a hacker.
Days passed in a routine of eating, sleeping, studying, and occasionally swimming in the lake or wandering the forest—always alone. The forest and lake combined had no microorganisms; the lake water was crystal clear, like pure water, drinkable without any treatment.
Despite the tranquility, he felt a lack of vitality.
After two months, Gao Ning grew restless. One morning, after washing up and changing clothes, a thought crossed his mind, and his figure vanished instantly.
With a flash, he reappeared on the Mysterious Train.
Walking to the sofa area, he found no one there, though the table was clearly laid with snacks from north and south regions. Gao Ning spotted a strange fruit, picked it up and examined it, struggling to recall its name before reluctantly putting it down.
At that moment, the neighboring carriage door opened, and Liang Bing emerged with three others.
Gao Ning lifted his gaze, fixing it on the last person.
This individual was no ordinary man—muscular and towering, standing about 1.9 meters tall, with a well-proportioned frame weighing over 100 kilograms.
Dressed like a mercenary, he wore military pants and big black boots, with only a black vest on his upper body, revealing strong, tanned arms. Veins bulged on his thick neck, and a long scar stretched from the outer corner of his right eye down to his chin, adding a menacing aura to his already fierce face.

“Daozi, 32 years old, a freelance mercenary active in the Golden Triangle region. The era is about 30 years earlier than Dong Huawen’s time—an area in the throes of chaos!” Liang Bing briefly introduced.
Gao Ning nodded with a smile: “Finally, a powerful teammate! Gao Ning.”
Daozi nodded and sat down opposite them, bold and confident.
“I’ve heard from Liang Bing and roughly understand the Mysterious Train. Before entering the battlefield, you should give yourself an alias. That way, you can conceal your identity and make it easier to call out!” Liang Bing said.
“This year, whether you want to or not, I do. We haven’t experienced much before, so we overlooked this aspect. After several encounters with enemies, I noticed commonalities. Though I’m not sure if it works, being cautious never hurts. It doesn’t matter what you’re called on the train, but when entering mission dimensions, call me Iceberg.”
Gao Ning and Dong Huawen both twitched their mouths. “You really chose a fitting codename—so in tune with your image and temperament.”
Zhou Banxian chuckled: “No need for me to bother; just call me Zhou Banxian!”
Well, that old fox was sly; he never had a real name from the start.
Dong Huawen pondered: “Call me Narrator.”
Gao Ning gave him a puzzled look. What kind of codename was that?
“I’ll keep it simple—just call me Castle,” Gao Ning said.
Liang Bing’s sharp intuition caught on: “Is your ability related to castles?”
Gao Ning thought for a moment. There was no point hiding it, so he nodded: “I obtained the Castle Fruit!”
He thought those four words would make things clear, but as soon as he spoke, his companions wore puzzled expressions.
“What’s that?” Dong Huawen asked.
He had forgotten that everyone came from different worlds.
Gao Ning rubbed his forehead and explained, “It’s an ability that can turn a person into a castle. It’s hard to describe in words, so I’ll let you experience it yourselves!”
