Chapter 75: All Are Financial Personnel
“It seems none of you trust me, and, in fact, you all find me thoroughly disagreeable! Fine, very well! If I am not welcome here, there are surely other places that will have me. I refuse to believe that without your Grand Ambition, I can’t bring these sets of equipment home!” Wu Ya’s lips still held a trace of a cold smile.
His gaze lingered on Lan Yaoming’s face.
“Director Lan, a forced melon is never sweet. Since you’ve decided to terminate our cooperation, then I shall do as you wish. Please return my deposit as swiftly as possible! I’ll leave this place at once, without a moment’s delay!”
His words were resolute, his demeanor crisp.
There wasn’t the slightest trace of reluctance or hesitation.
Lan Yaoming hadn’t quite reacted yet.
After all, business is business.
A successful deal was worth celebrating, but if it fell through, there was no need to be too upset.
But in Accountant Mo’s eyes, a flicker of surprise passed.
“This young man, so readily agreed to the refund? Isn’t there usually compensation for a unilateral breach of contract? And he didn’t mention a word about it! Besides, this kind of cutting-edge equipment—apart from their factory, there’s none like it at all! Could he really be so offended that he’d rather go for those outdated products?”
Yet astonishment aside, she couldn’t make sense of it.
So...
“Heh, maybe he’s just too young, not experienced enough! Faced with such an abrupt turn, his anger must have overtaken him—he can only force himself to swallow his fury and ignore all else!”
She took Wu Ya’s out-of-the-ordinary response as the rashness of youth.
But that only pleased her more!
She’d originally planned to anger him while also pushing Lan Yaoming to cut ties.
But now, things were much simpler and more efficient.
Youth is a flaw. Before anything even happened, he’d lost his composure!
Accused of being part of a scam ring, and yet he didn’t bother to defend or clarify. Instead, with a clumsy retort, he immediately demanded his money and prepared to leave.
She almost felt unaccustomed to it!
“Good! Mo Xiao, sorry to trouble you, but please return to the factory now and draw up a cashier’s check for Wu Ya!”
Her mind still turning with suspicion, Lan Yaoming was already impatient.
Since the man’s identity was now so dubious, it was urgent to sever all ties with Wu Ya immediately.
He couldn’t even wait until morning!
He wanted a cashier’s check issued at once to cut all association.
A scam ring—who knew when trouble might strike?
What if, just a few minutes later, the authorities swooped in?
If he were implicated, wouldn’t he be investigated as well?
In business, reputation is everything.
Especially in those less-connected days, good news rarely traveled far, but bad news spread like wildfire.
If rumors spread that he’d been hauled away for questioning, his factory would be finished!
“I’ll bring A Lan back to the factory at once!” Accountant Mo agreed briskly.
She turned and strode eagerly toward the hotel entrance.
“Heh, whatever your motives for targeting me, to think you could derail my plan to purchase equipment and expand? That’s your own mistake! So, paying the price is the retribution you deserve!”
Watching her retreating figure, Wu Ya’s cold smile only widened.
But before this thought could settle, Accountant Mo suddenly stopped.
She turned back.
“Director Lan, in my opinion, we’d best cancel tonight’s banquet as well. Once the check is ready, I’ll have A Lan deliver it to his hotel. It’s best if we maintain no further contact! Don’t you agree?”
She was actually worried that after she left, Wu Ya and Lan Yaoming might have a chance to speak alone!
What if both she and A Lan left, and the young man had second thoughts, persuading Lan Yaoming to reconnect with that mortgaged factory?
All her efforts would be wasted!
After all, this was a hefty deal—a lifeline for Lan Yaoming’s factory.
Would he really be unmoved by a few words from Wu Ya?
Impossible!
So, caution is always best.
And isolation was the surest way to prevent any change!
“Yes, you’re right! Tonight’s banquet ends here, everyone disperse!” Lan Yaoming agreed without a moment’s hesitation.
Without even another word to Wu Ya, he turned, hurrying after Accountant Mo and A Lan, and left the hotel.
He had meant to cut off all ties with Wu Ya anyway.
He’d simply forgotten, in this hotel setting.
With Accountant Mo’s reminder, he had no reason to linger even a breath longer—what if Wu Ya’s so-called scam ring was caught while he was still here!
As he left...
“We should get going too! This place has become a den of trouble!”
“Yes, let’s hurry! No need to get tangled up in any mess.”
“Go, go, quickly!”
All the Grand Ambition management hurriedly retreated toward the door, nearly breaking into a run.
What a joke.
How could they not understand Accountant Mo’s words?
She simply didn’t want anyone else to have contact with Wu Ya!
Who would dare stay with him? Courting disaster!
“So eager to leave? I truly wonder, with your intelligence, how you managed to build a factory of such scale! I hope you won’t grovel before me in the future—may you keep the distance you’re so desperate for now!”
Soon, the entire private room was empty, save for Wu Ya.
Yet he showed no expression.
Neither anger nor irritation.
He just gazed in the direction Lan Yaoming had left, the corners of his lips rising.
His cold smile had turned to mockery.
“Very well, I’ll return to the hotel and await the cashier’s check. A Lan, A Lan... heh, it seems tonight’s mystery can only be unraveled through you!”
The next moment.
Wu Ya finally rose to his feet.
He strolled leisurely, taking in the night scenery of Xiangzhou City, and slowly made his way toward the hotel where he was staying.
A Lan.
His sights were now set on her!
She surely knew the reason behind tonight’s sudden turn.
Her actions made it clear—she’d been acting under Accountant Mo’s instructions.
Would she submit so easily?
Unlikely!
They were both accountants.
That sensitive position made Wu Ya keenly aware of a problem.
A Lan must be under Accountant Mo’s thumb!
So, even if she complied, it was certainly not of her own free will.
Which begs the question—
If she has objections, there must be a rift!
She simply didn’t dare to show it.
She just needed a little help to break free and start anew.
