Chapter 47: Creating Miracles
"Wu Ya, are you still not satisfied with how miserable I am? Do you insist on pushing me further into the pit?"
No sooner had Wu Ya finished speaking than Huang Silu flared up in anger.
So, at a young age, I’ve already mastered finance? At first glance, that does sound like an impressively ambitious image! But... do I really know finance? Of course not! If, the day after tomorrow, Qiao Yaru actually listens to this and goes to the branch—then I’ll be exposed!
Forget about chasing her anymore. I’ll probably never see her again in this lifetime. It would be a permanent farewell.
Just for a chance whose outcome I don’t even know, should I take such a huge risk and lie? That’s not a good deal!
So, Wu Ya isn’t helping me at all. He’s just given me a rotten idea in hopes that Qiao Yaru and I will be finished for good!
"Exactly, Wu Ya, how could Huang Silu possibly know anything about finance? If Qiao Yaru takes this seriously and really goes to the Suiyan branch, won’t you be tearing them apart completely?" Liu Qian, standing nearby, was equally baffled.
She wasn’t as angry as Huang Silu, because she knew Wu Ya never acted without reason. If he did this, he must have his reasons. Still, even if he had a reason, he shouldn’t be so reckless.
"Heh, so in your eyes, I’m someone who wishes for the world to burn, am I? Huang Silu, I’m trying to save you—giving you a chance to shine! If you don’t appreciate it, fine, but you even suspect me? Very well, solve your problems yourself! Don’t come to me again!"
With a cold laugh, Wu Ya grabbed Liu Qian’s arm, turned around, and walked away, leaving Huang Silu standing there alone, exposed to the biting wind.
"Hey, wait for me! I’ll do as you say, is that not enough?" In the end, Huang Silu shouted and ran after him.
He’d just have to trust this bastard, for once! Could Wu Ya really harm him? Worst case, even if it’s a stupid idea, he could always refuse to go through with it later—he’d be the one to decide.
"Hmph! So you want to get all the details from me, then go home and think it over, and if it doesn’t work, just come up with something else, right?" Who would have guessed, as soon as Huang Silu caught up, Wu Ya exposed his plan without mercy, laying bare his thoughts.
"Heh heh, so tell me—what’s your plan?" At this point, Huang Silu was truly out of options. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Things couldn’t get much worse anyway.
"The day after tomorrow, first thing in the morning, come straight to the branch hall and find me. I’ll be waiting for you there! But before that, I need you to give me some money."
Not only did Wu Ya keep his plan to himself, he was now asking for money!
Money?
"Why do you need money?" Huang Silu blurted out his question immediately. This bastard had come up with a half-baked scheme and, before even revealing whether it would work, was trying to extort him for cash. Ridiculous!
"Cut the nonsense—are you giving it to me or not? If not, goodbye! If you do, it’s still your money in the end. I can’t expect you to perform with just your mouth on the day, can I?"
Wu Ya had no intention of relying on empty words. He needed Qiao Yaru to witness, with her own eyes, Huang Silu’s extraordinary financial talent—even if it was just a small demonstration.
So, money was necessary. But he wasn’t about to tell Huang Silu about the treasury bonds yet. Otherwise, the guy wouldn’t believe him, much less hand over any cash.
"How much?" Huang Silu glared, but he was helpless. Ever since graduation, this guy had become hard to recognize—every move and word exuded a strange air: depth, composure, a weightiness that only people who’d seen the world possessed.
"Bring whatever you have. It’s just to prove your ability. But after this, you really need to start learning finance! If you get caught, the consequences will be much worse."
Wu Ya’s words were casual, but he ended with a serious warning.
Huang Silu’s hand, reaching for his wallet, froze in place—like it had been set in plaster.
Then...
"What did you say? After this, you want me to learn finance? Wu Ya, just kill me now! Go on, kill me!"
Furious, Huang Silu pressed either his head or his shoulder—he himself wasn’t sure which—toward Wu Ya.
Study? Finance, of all things? Huang Silu was born a troublemaker! He’d do anything, but never mention studying. That was enough to tear his heart apart, to keep him awake at night, to make him feel like he was being eaten alive by ants.
In short: he hated studying. Especially anything involving numbers.
That would kill him.
And now, just to cover a lie, he’d have to work harder than dying itself. Heaven help him—life was hopeless.
"Get out of here!" Wu Ya blocked Huang Silu’s approaching body with a look of utter disgust.
"I’m afraid if I try to chop your neck, you won’t die but will just splatter oil all over me!"
That neck was too thick—so thick there was barely any gap between his body and head. It was as if a giant meatball had been stuck onto a short, stocky base. And you couldn’t even distinguish his features.
"Huang Silu, which is more important to you—Qiao Yaru or the suffering of studying?"
"Of course Qiao Yaru is more important!"
Seeing Huang Silu start to act up, Liu Qian lost her patience. Before her words had even faded, Huang Silu answered without hesitation.
Clearly, for men, women are the greatest motivation.
Soon, Huang Silu reluctantly handed Wu Ya five hundred yuan—the pocket money he’d painstakingly saved over the past year. He’d skimped on food and drink, all to have the chance to invite Qiao Yaru to dinner. Who would have thought it would end on such a sour note?
"Wu Ya, what exactly is your plan? Just going to the branch—is that really enough to show Qiao Yaru Huang Silu’s extraordinary financial talent?"
On the way back, Liu Qian’s eyes were full of doubt. What kind of plan was this? She’d never heard of anything like it. Would a simple deposit or withdrawal operation really reveal Huang Silu’s genius? It made no sense.
"Heh, not just him. I’ll create a miracle myself, the day after tomorrow! A miracle that will shock not just the whole Suiyan District, but the entire Weiling City—a miracle unprecedented in history!"
Instead of giving her a straight answer, Wu Ya tilted his head back proudly, a mysterious and arrogant air about him—positively strutting.
"Bah!"
But all he got was Liu Qian’s contemptuous spit.
