Chapter 99: Collecting Combat Plant Seeds
Wang Ling let out a long sigh of relief. A team with formidable strength and seamless coordination exerted combat power far beyond that of average Dreamers. Moreover, having survived numerous main missions, their combat experience was certainly not to be underestimated; they were indeed not so easy to kill.
It could be said that if the opposing side had held just a few more trump cards—for instance, had they possessed something like the "Thunder Summoning Talismans" that Blackie had, in addition to the Blood-Veined Dragon—the outcome of the battle might have been rewritten.
"The most troublesome part is that my appearance has evidently been exposed. There is no longer any point in hiding it; I fear I will face further ambushes in future mission worlds. The only advantage I have is that they do not know my true strength, which will lead to strategic misjudgments. Take the Whirlwind Team, for example: had they not assumed I was weak and launched a surprise attack from the start, but instead held back and sought a better opportunity, I would have been in real trouble."
Wang Ling frowned slightly as he pondered this, but realizing that dwelling on it was futile, he began to select his spoils through his Dreamer Badge.
Since the summoned characters and the subdued Blood-Veined Dragon had acted under his authority, the kills were credited to him. Consequently, three notifications of Dreamer deaths had piled up in his badge, which he had not had time to process earlier.
This world was a peaceful scenario, meaning the rewards for killing fellow Dreamers were significantly reduced. After some thought, Wang Ling gave up the second option—a less than 50% chance to extract equipment—as well as the third option to extract items from their storage bags. After all, the three of them combined offered only seven extraction attempts. With at least thirty empty slots in the bag, the odds of drawing something worthwhile were slim; he might end up with nothing at all.
Furthermore, his own storage bag was quite small, with only seventeen slots, most of which were already occupied. He didn't know what he might obtain in this world, and taking items would only waste precious space. He was currently extremely impoverished—after summoning the four Kung Fu Masters, his currency points had dropped to just over 700. Choosing the first option to claim the wealth of the three deceased individuals would at least help compensate for his losses.
Additionally, Wang Ling reasoned that an established team should have a certain amount of wealth stored to handle contingencies—such as suddenly encountering desirable weapons or equipment in the free market—so the three of them likely carried a decent amount of currency.
As expected, after choosing the first option for all three rewards, he gained a total of 13,251 currency points, 4 attribute points, and 6 skill points. It was a decent little windfall.
"With over 14,000 currency points, I'm only 6,000 away from being able to create an android... I must work hard in this mission and make sure I return alive!" Thinking of the creation function at the Mainframe Branch, Wang Ling’s heart was suddenly filled with longing and the passion to strive.
The Blood-Veined Dragon had by now devoured most of the corpses of Chris, Goode, and Aaron, leaving only the harder parts it could not consume. Nearby, Wang Long and the others watched the dinosaur with great wariness. Although as members of the Bully clan they had committed their fair share of killings, seeing a dinosaur devour the corpses of their enemies made even their scalps tingle.
There were benefits to devouring flesh and blood; Wang Ling noticed that the health the Blood-Veined Dragon had lost earlier from the "Dragon Fist" attack had largely recovered—the "Brutality" skill was in effect. Even its mangled jaw had begun to scar and heal; the regenerative capacity of this mutated dinosaur was truly impressive.
As for Wang Long and the others, everyone was injured. Chris and Goode had not been easy to deal with; the three burly men had been struck by skills several times, and their health had dropped below half. It was a stroke of luck that none of them had died. Lan Yue, however, had her ankle injured by the strength-specialist Aaron and had temporarily lost the ability to walk.
Wang Ling had also been injured during the fight with the Blood-Veined Dragon, but to his surprise, the bloodstains on his chest and the flesh wounds on his shoulders had mostly healed, and he could feel the pain inside his body subsiding. It must have been the self-healing effect of the Dragon Bloodline—after all, if the Double Dragon brothers hadn't possessed the Dragon Soul, how could two people have stormed the Dark Fighter headquarters and grown fiercer the more they fought?
"I must restore everyone's lost health."
Now that the battle had ended, Wang Ling took the mini Miku out of his storage bag. Seeing the gruesome state of the people outside, especially the dinosaur cruelly tearing at the corpses, the timid creature immediately hugged her head and crouched on his palm, trembling.
Only after using the storage bag's preservation function to tuck the Blood-Veined Dragon away did Miku's small, fragile heart finally calm down. Wang Ling beckoned Wang Long, Tao Xian, Chen Heng, and Lan Yue to sit around Miku, and then he ordered the familiar to activate her skill.
Miku’s hands seemed to perform a magic trick, conjuring a mini leek. She waved it up and down and began to sing:
"Ala-cha-cha, ya-pi-pi-la-pi-pi, la-ba-li-gen-li-bang-lian-bang-po, wa-ba-li-ba-ba, ba-li-ba-li, ba-li-bi-li-bi-yi-si-tan-lian-bang-po..."
The bizarre lyrics and melody left the four Kung Fu Masters, who were from the Qing Dynasty, looking blank and dazed. As the two-and-a-half-minute "Leek Spinning Song" ended, its effects began to take hold. Wang Long and the others let out exclamations of surprise as they clearly felt their wounds healing.
After listening to the entire song, their health recovery speed would increase by 1 point every 10 seconds for the next hour. This added 360 points of recovery over the hour on top of their base rate—enough to restore them to full health regardless of how much they had lost.
Wang Ling then recalled that the first main mission had to be completed within three hours, and he had to reach the house stronghold to satisfy the requirements. There wasn't much time left, and he certainly didn't want to face the outcome of mission failure and erasure.
Terrified of the zombies, the mini Miku returned to the storage bag, occupying a slot just like the Blood-Veined Dragon. As for the four Kung Fu Masters, Wang Ling did not have them return to their scenario cards, as he wanted to avoid the currency cost of summoning them again.
Lan Yue's foot injury would take time to fully heal, and she needed someone to carry her. As her master, Wang Ling had no choice but to carry her on his back as they headed back toward Plant Town. Wang Long, Chen Heng, and Tao Xian cleared the zombies from their path.
It had to be said that the feeling of carrying a young girl was quite pleasant. Her soft breasts pressed against his back, rubbing
