Chapter 130: The Large-Scale Battle
Under Wang Ling's command, Wang Long, Tao Xian, and Chen Heng led the three branches—Green Dragon, White Tiger, and Black Tortoise—totaling 150 delinquents, to launch an offensive against Nikko Academy that very day. The 50 members of the Vermilion Bird branch, along with the 120-strong, highly capable combat squad, remained stationed at Shonan High School to prevent any surprise attacks on the headquarters.
If Shonan were considered a third-rate force among all schools, then Nikko Academy was undoubtedly at the very bottom; their strongest boss was only on par with someone like Kudo. Possessing an absolute advantage in strength and led by martial arts masters, the white flag was raised at Nikko Academy within just one hour.
Upon hearing over the phone that Nikko had been taken without any casualties, Wang Ling ordered Tao Xian to stay behind with 50 delinquents to reorganize and secure the defeated faction. Wang Long and Chen Heng took the remaining 100 delinquents to continue the offensive against the Suzuri Institute of Technology.
This school had no established club like Dongmu; it was ruled by the student council. However, the student council president, along with key members from the sports department and the judo club, had been wiped out by a mysterious person a few days prior, leaving the school in a state of chaos.
The gang leaders who were fighting for power following the death of their original ruler were all crushed by Wang Long’s dragon-patterned staff. Consequently, the Dongmu club faced no significant resistance and took the school with only a few members sustaining minor injuries.
Taking two schools in a single day and securing six residential districts in Kanagawa, including streets filled with commercial facilities like adult entertainment parlors, was something unimaginable for the original Shonan High. All the remaining delinquents were ecstatic upon hearing the news of the victory.
With the capture of Nikko Academy and the Suzuri Institute of Technology, the fame of Wang Ling, the leader of the Dongmu club, spread to the students of these schools as well.
Still at Shonan High, Wang Ling noticed his reputation points increasing, though perhaps because these two schools did not respect him as much as Shonan did, the rise was not substantial. Even so, his reputation had reached 900 points. It was clear that taking over the third-rate school, Zhuyou Industrial, would be enough to satisfy the requirements of the main mission.
"Since we have taken these two schools, the offensive will stop here for today. All units are to rest and regroup."
Giving instructions over the phone, Wang Ling wore a smile. The feeling of not needing to lift a finger himself, yet having a massive crowd willing to risk their lives at his word, was undoubtedly satisfying. This, he thought, must be the ease of being in a position of power.
"The rapid offensive launched by Shonan today must have reached the ears of interested parties in the vicinity. If our opponents aren't fools, they will certainly consider taking action during this break. With the strength of Tao Xian, Wang Long, and Chen Heng, they are equivalent to mid-level mini-bosses in this *Hot-Blooded* world. Plus, with so many subordinates and the fighting already concluded, the possibility of the enemy launching a direct attack on them is slim."
"If I were the opponent, I would surely deduce that Shonan’s next target is the neighboring high school, Zhuyou Industrial. Zhuyou Industrial’s original strength exceeds Shonan’s; even with the training the Dongmu members have undergone, it would be impossible to take the school smoothly. Thus, intervening to attack Dongmu while they are locked in a difficult struggle with Zhuyou is undoubtedly the strategy of a fisherman reaping the benefits."
After contemplating the situation from the enemy's perspective, Wang Ling summoned Kudo, the boss guarding the school, and instructed him to find the hair stylist who specialized in hairstyles for delinquents. Under the admiring gaze of this 28-year-old femme fatale, Wang Ling had his hair and eyebrows dyed a deep crimson and styled into a pompadour—the ultimate look for a delinquent.
Donning a white Shonan school uniform and removing the two badges from his chest, the red-pompadoured Wang Ling looked exactly like a native of the *Hot-Blooded* world. Even Su, who was very familiar with him in the Dream Space, would find it difficult to recognize him after such a transformation.
"President Ling, what are you doing?" Kudo, the burly man, was quite confused by Wang Ling’s change in hairstyle.
"Have Branch Leader Tao Xian and leaders Koyama and Niijima recruit members at Nikko Academy; have Branch Leaders Wang Long and Chen Heng, along with leader Inoue, recruit at the Suzuri Institute of Technology. These leaders are to focus on quelling the unrest among the surrendering factions and expanding the Dongmu club's influence. As for tomorrow's offensive against Zhuyou Industrial, I will participate personally." Wang Ling looked in the mirror, very satisfied with the stylist's handiwork.
"With three branch leaders taking action, and the combat squad mobilized, that should be enough to take Zhuyou Industrial. How could we dare to trouble a powerhouse of your caliber to take part in such a battle personally?" The fierce-looking Kudo had now become a dedicated sycophant, dutifully buttering him up.
Wang Ling snapped his fingers and said with a smile, "From now on, the Dongmu club will have a new member named Hanamichi Sakuragi. When I appear in this guise, you must forget my status as President and treat me as an original member of Dongmu."
...
A day passed quickly. The next morning, as originally planned, Shonan launched its offensive against Zhuyou Industrial. To the surprise of all members, those leading the charge were not the expected branch leaders, but three mysterious new leaders.
Lan Yue and the 50 members of the Vermilion Bird branch guarded Shonan High. The Dongmu club’s strongest combat squad, traveling in six large trucks and one jeep, headed toward Zhuyou Industrial.
Aside from Kudo, the jeep carried three unnamed foreigners known only by their nicknames: "Thug," "Mop-Head," and "Hippie." This struck the combat squad members as very strange.
Strange as it was, no one voiced any objections. In their eyes, Wang Ling’s prestige was currently insurmountable. Coupled with the fact that the branch leaders had conquered two high schools in just a few hours the day before, their reverence for the President who could command such leaders only grew deeper.
Wang Ling watched the chattering, excited delinquents beside him with boredom. He was currently standing on the rear deck of a large truck just like any other member, his identity being the newly joined delinquent, Sakuragi.
The five large trucks followed the jeep along the road. Under the terrified gazes of pedestrians, the convoy stopped on the outskirts of Zhuyou Industrial's territory. Kudo and the three dark fighters stepped out of the jeep, and the delinquents on the trucks jumped down one after another, drawing their various weapons.
The weapons of the combat squad consisted mainly of machetes and steel pipes. Wang Ling felt that using those would be too much of a bully, but to maintain consistency with the surrounding delinquents and avoid being recognized by other Dreamers, he also picked up a metal pipe.
Under Wang Ling’s constraints, these delinquents had not bullied any ordinary people for half a month and were already bursting with pent-up energy. Everyone was incredibly excited for the coming battle; they let out ear-piercing, strange laughs, clearly prepared for a major brawl.
Kudo was the nominal leader of this battle. With his slicked-back hair, burly frame, and a gold chain as thick as a finger draped around his neck, he undoubtedly had the aura of a big boss. After jumping from the jeep, he loosened his collar, drew a machete from behind his pants, and led the way toward Zhuyou Industrial. The three dark fighters followed silently behind him, carrying a dagger, a hammer, and a hand axe, respectively.
Over 100 delinquents in uniform, wielding weapons and looking fierce, appeared within the territory of Zhuyou Industrial. It was clear to everyone that these people had ill intentions. Compounded by the shock of Nikko and Suzuri being taken so quickly the day before, the Zhuyou Industrial personnel, who had already increased their vigilance, immediately ran toward the school to report the news upon seeing so many people.
"Take them out!"
A group of delinquents with machetes gave chase. Two scouts who fell behind were hacked into ragged sacks amidst the sound of chopping meat; they collapsed to the ground, screaming, before their bodies were kicked into the roadside ditch.
Seeing the ferocity of these Japanese delinquents in the *Hot-Blooded* world, Wang Ling was secretly shocked. It was just like a scene from a *Young and Dangerous* movie!
After cutting down the two scouts, the Dongmu combat squad continued their advance, reaching the gates of Zhuyou Industrial 13 minutes later. With the warning provided by the scouts who had escaped back, the school's student council had already mobilized the delinquents.
Zhuyou Industrial was the most powerful of the four nearby schools and had the most students. At the gate, more than 200 delinquents stood in wait, with large numbers continuing to pour out of the school to join the ranks. A fat man with a physique like a sumo wrestler and a gentle expression stood at the very front, his eyes narrowed, flanked by six leaders with distinct appearances.
Standing inconspicuously within the combat squad, Wang Ling knew this fat man was the top dog of Zhuyou Industrial, named Miyamoto. Born into a sumo family, his strength was superior to that of the late President Yano of Shonan, and the leaders behind him were also stronger than the four leaders of Shonan.
If it were the original Shonan High, 100 people coming here would be nothing but cannon fodder; facing such superior strength, they likely would have been wiped out. But now, the Dongmu club had undergone rigorous training, and these combat squad members had been armed with high-quality weapons purchased by Wang Ling using Yano’s inheritance, and they were led by the three dark fighters.
The strength of the two sides was now basically on the same level. Who would win remained to be seen, but Wang Ling knew that if he didn't reveal his true strength, this battle would definitely be a hard-fought one. He wasn't worried about the difficulty; the primary purpose of this battle was to lure out the hidden Dreamers, and taking Zhuyou Industrial was only secondary.
...
When the group of 120 delinquents was 20 meters away from the main force of Zhuyou Industrial, they stopped at a hand signal from Kudo.
"Boss Miyamoto, I didn't expect you to greet us personally outside the school gate. I’m truly flattered. With so many people lined up so neatly, are you preparing to surrender to our Shonan High?" Kudo shouted boldly at Miyamoto.
The fat man still wore a smile, but his narrowed eyes opened slightly. He said with a tone of disdain, "I didn't expect that after Yano died, trash like you would start acting up. Why are you the one leading the team this time? Where is that new president of yours who took on a hundred men single-handedly? I wanted to witness his strength and make a name for myself, but he didn't dare to come. What a coward! Wahahahaha..."
At this, Miyamoto erupted into wild laughter, and the leaders behind him joined in. All the members of the Dongmu combat squad, hearing the opponent dare to insult their president, displayed expressions of rage.
"Miyamoto, it seems you are prepared to resist. How unwise. When the battle is over, I will personally handle your funeral arrangements." Kudo raised his hand and waved it forward. The delinquents holding machetes and steel pipes charged forward immediately, and the delinquents from Zhuyou Industrial behind Miyamoto also rushed forward.
"Aooooooo..."
With loud cries, the two lines of delinquents collided. More than a dozen of the opponents were hacked down instantly, and several others were left bleeding profusely from strikes with steel pipes. In terms of weaponry, the combat squad had a clear advantage. Facing them were opponents mostly armed with chair legs, and many were empty-handed; out of the 300-plus people gathered, only about 50 had metal weapons.
For some leaders skilled in fighting techniques, carrying weapons actually limited their performance, but for low-level grunts, a machete or a steel pipe could at least double their strength!
However, the combat squad was at a numerical disadvantage. After taking down 20 of the enemy during the initial charge, they were quickly surrounded and split up, each having to face the combined attacks of three or four people.
*Squelch, squelch, squelch.* Amidst the sound of weapons biting into flesh, dark red blood sprayed everywhere. Howls and screams filled the air as people collapsed one after another. The ground was quickly stained with blood. Some who fell still had a breath left, while others were dead; after all, a machete strike to the neck or chest was not something an ordinary thug could withstand.
"My god, the Japanese are truly wicked. Students fighting this ruthlessly!"
Wang Ling secretly clicked his tongue. Just then, perhaps because his red pompadour was too flashy, five delinquents surrounded him. Two chair legs swung toward his head, and another man jabbed at his waist with a dagger from the side.
He raised his left arm to block the fierce strikes of the chair legs, ignored the punch that landed on his back, and used his right hand to deflect the dagger with the steel pipe. Then, Wang Ling thrust the pipe upward. The throat cartilage of the treacherous delinquent shattered, and he collapsed to the ground, spraying blood from his mouth.
Having struck down one person, Wang Ling did not want to appear too conspicuous. He intentionally took a direct kick to the chest, stumbled backward, and then began swinging the steel pipe with a lot of force but no technique, creating a whistling sound that deterred the surrounding delinquents from closing in. To be continued...
