Chapter 121: When You Know Someone Too Well, You Know Exactly Where to Strike to Cause the Most Pain
Yu Wensi’s mobile phone had been temporarily confiscated. He had only been allowed a single phone call, and by now, his temper was slowly simmering and burning. Yet, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and endure, waiting for Lawyer Liao to arrive.
Undoubtedly, Mai Xijun had been interrogated several times as well, but in the end, it was her own carelessness while walking that had caused this entirely unnecessary accident. She accepted that. Fortunately, it had not happened in an especially busy area, otherwise the consequences would have been truly unimaginable. Even after the fact, Mai Xijun secretly wiped a cold sweat from her brow.
Twenty minutes later, Yu Wensi’s lawyer arrived late, drenched in sweat. He knew exactly how volatile Yu Wensi’s temper was; an outburst from him carried the force of a volcanic eruption, and the resulting lava could surely consume him. He hurried over, clutching his briefcase in one hand while wiping sweat with the other, bowing and scraping as he apologized and consulted with Yu Wensi.
"Heh, President, I’m sorry I’m late. But seeing that you’re alright, I feel a little more at ease." Lawyer Liao wiped his forehead vigorously. The traffic had been so bad that he had wished he could fly there by rocket. Even though he had eventually abandoned his car and run the rest of the way, he had still lost a significant amount of time. One look at Yu Wensi’s grim expression made it clear that he was in a foul mood, looking as if he would love to tear someone apart.
Twenty minutes later, Yu Wensi left the police interrogation room under Lawyer Liao’s bail. As for Mai Xijun, after asking around, Yu Wensi discovered that she had already left, having been bailed out by someone else.
Puzzled, Yu Wensi headed out.
In front of the police station, Mai Xijun sat in the passenger seat, her delicate brows slightly furrowed. She kept glancing toward the station’s lobby, watching for Yu Wensi. After she had come out, she had asked the other officers, who told her that Yu Wensi’s lawyer had arrived and was already in discussions.
"Are you in a rush?" Mai Xijun turned to look at the man sitting right beside her—her "Little Stone." He was checking his watch. She hadn't even had the chance to ask if he had time before he started waiting there with her for Yu Wensi.
"No, I’m not in a rush," Mo Shaoxing answered calmly. He didn't mention that he had abandoned an extremely important engagement to be here. It was because Mai Xijun had called him; after she had bitten her lip and remained silent for a brief moment, his first reaction was to ask where she was. When she told him she was at the police station, he didn't hesitate, dropping everything he was doing. He drove at breakneck speed, foot pressed to the floor, and arrived within ten minutes.
"He’s coming," Mai Xijun said, opening the car door to step out. As soon as Yu Wensi looked up, he saw her.
Just a moment ago, deep down, Yu Wensi had been cursing Mai for being disloyal and only caring about herself, but now that she was standing right in front of him, he felt a faint stir of emotion.
Facing the sunlight, Yu Wensi squinted at the woman before him—the woman who, just a short while ago, had made him weep uncontrollably when he thought she was dying. She was standing there now, safe and sound, elegant and poised like a fairy.
Yu Wensi felt a sense of disorientation. She was dressed in a white knee-length chiffon dress, a small pale pink knitted cardigan, and pink wedge shoes with bows. The outfit was truly graceful, carrying a faint air of a well-bred lady—reserved, delicate, and ethereal. If this had been any other woman passing by, he wouldn't have spared her a second glance, but now that she stood before him, he didn't know how to look away.
*Beep-beep.*
Hearing the horn, Lawyer Liao, who had been cautiously observing Yu Wensi’s expression, spoke up gingerly: "President, the traffic was terrible today. I had to leave the car and run the rest of the way."
Only then did Yu Wensi realize that the person who had bailed out Mai Xijun was none other than Mo Shaoxing.

Throughout the drive, no one spoke. Aside from the sounds of passing traffic and honking horns, the spacious SUV was deathly silent, making the atmosphere feel stifling.
Lawyer Liao swallowed hard, assessing the situation. He was the type who withered in Yu Wensi’s presence, though in the "battlefield" of law, he was fierce and formidable. He figured that if most people in this world understood Yu Wensi’s temperament, they would likely adopt an attitude of "admire from afar, but dare not approach." Naturally, he was one of them.
"No need to take me home specifically; just drop me off if it’s on the way," Yu Wensi said expressionlessly, his mood clearly cold and withdrawn. Mo Shaoxing didn't mind and simply obliged. After all, this whole affair had been caused by Little Pudding; the fact that Yu Wensi hadn't made a scene or held a grudge was truly a stroke of good luck.
The time he had spent huddled in a corner of the police station drinking tea would certainly go down as a glorious chapter in Yu Wensi’s life, but he hadn't used his status or power to pressure anyone. He felt that this matter couldn't be settled by "force." He had entered the station with Mai, and given her personality, she would surely be unhappy if he used his influence to resolve it.
Still, if Lawyer Liao had been even a second later, he definitely would have roared, torn the roof off that station, and dug up its very foundations.
Damn it, it was infuriating—the kind of thing that wouldn't happen more than a few times in a lifetime.

In front of the Oya Company building.
After Mo Shaoxing stopped the car and everyone got out, he turned the wheel and headed toward the parking lot.
"I’m really sorry," Mai Xijun wisely chose to apologize to Yu Wensi first. It was a very rational, high-IQ move.
"Girl, so you do know how to apologize." He had thought she’d just left without a word after being bailed out, ignoring him completely. Even though she had waited for him later, she hadn't let him see her safe the moment she was out. The anger festering in his heart made him feel extremely displeased.
Mai Xijun blinked, seemingly confused by Yu Wensi’s sudden outburst, so she chose to keep her mouth shut to avoid provoking the "donkey" into kicking her.
However, when Yu Wensi saw her silence, his temper flared even more. "You really are a piece of work, aren't you? In all my life, I have never been so humiliated, never had to swallow such an insulting grievance."
Lawyer Liao, watching from the side, assessed the intensity of the flames and decided his presence was no longer needed; if he stayed while Yu Wensi’s temper reached its peak, he would be the one to suffer the consequences. Wisely, he quietly retreated and made his escape.
"It’s not... I..." Mai Xijun suddenly felt she couldn't explain herself. After struggling for a moment, she said weakly, "I didn't do anything..."
"Didn't do anything... Heh, and you call this 'not doing anything'?" Yu Wensi felt both angry and amused. He must be crazy, the world must be crazy, and he was becoming mentally unstable along with it.
Watching Yu Wensi pace in circles, running his large hands through his hair as if trying to straighten out his emotions, Mai Xijun sighed. "Girl, you've got guts. To borrow a phrase from Lie, your conscience must have been eaten by a dog."
Yu Wensi was fuming, pointing his right index finger at Mai Xijun, determined to give her a piece of his mind. Yet, as he opened his mouth repeatedly, he couldn't find the words.
Seeing his state, Mai Xijun’s brows furrowed deeper. She feared this guy was on the verge of being driven mad by her; if she didn't say something now, he would surely lose it.
"Oh... I won't tell anyone that you were crying on the side of the road..." Mai Xijun’s expression was so earnest it was terrifying. The pure, harmless look in her ink-black eyes made Yu Wensi’s skin crawl.
"Really." Mai Xijun raised her hand to swear to the heavens.
"Shit."
"..."
"Mai Xijun, can you stop poking at my sore spots?" Damn it all, he could only pray that among the crowd who had stopped to watch or help, no one recognized him. If they did, he would consider it a humiliation—a monumental, disgraceful shame.
"I’m not! I’m being serious. I won't tell anyone that you were, um..."
"Say one more word and I’ll stifle you." This girl was clearly doing it on purpose.
Yu Wensi spoke viciously, though he didn't actually apply much force. It was simple: he couldn't gamble with his dignity. If this girl dared to act out, he would ruthlessly nip the idea in the bud, even if he had no better method than "threats."
Mai Xijun nodded repeatedly and earnestly. Yu Wensi’s gaze was sharp, but seeing her look, he felt she wasn't lying, so he lowered his guard slightly, though he still watched her with suspicion. "Are you sure you won't tell anyone else? Including Lie?"
He didn't want another soul to know, especially Shen Yanlie. If Shen Yanlie found out, he’d be laughed to death.
Mai Xijun nodded again and pointed to the large hand still covering her mouth. Yu Wensi’s jaw twitched, but he finally let go. He had the urge to hit someone right now. If only someone would provoke him—he would certainly reduce them to a pathetic, unrecognizable mess.
It turned out that when people were too close, they knew exactly where to strike to cause the most pain. It seemed Mai Xijun had his pulse completely under control. This was trouble. Yu Wensi looked at Mai Xijun, muttering to himself and weighing his options.
