Chapter Thirty-Three: Forceful Interruption
All attacks were carried out under Ye Yu’s command, and with such direction, their offensive naturally achieved its intended effect. Ye Yu was intimately familiar with the characteristics of the Ancient Snowman of the Heavenly Snow Lake. As soon as everyone agreed to follow his lead, the outcome of this battle gradually became inevitable.
When the group focused their attacks on the legs of the Ancient Snowman, their combined firepower shattered its limbs, forcing it to its knees. Unable to support its own weight, the monster collapsed instantly; its terrifying gaze burned with endless rage—as if, had looks been lethal, the five hundred people before it would have died a thousand deaths.
Yet, an unexpected turn occurred. As the five hundred prepared to finish off the Ancient Snowman, the colossal creature suddenly raised its head and unleashed a furious roar, its voice booming so loudly it seemed to shake the heavens, rage erupting like a storm. It slammed its fists onto the ground, the impact causing tremors and fissures to splinter the earth.
A thunderous rumble echoed.
Ye Yu’s eyes flashed with surprise; he quickly scrutinized the Ancient Snowman. If this were a high-level instance, the monster would likely have started regenerating its wounds, its health rising once more. Had that happened, all their efforts to whittle away two-thirds of its life would have been wasted.
“Fortunately, this is only an early-stage instance. If it were a later, more advanced one, my previous commands would have been a mistake, and these five hundred would have suffered a direct defeat,” Ye Yu reflected with relief, realizing he still lacked caution. Nonetheless, it was fortunate he noticed this in an early phase, so he could be more vigilant in the future. Moreover, at this moment, the Ancient Snowman possessed no self-healing skill.
Clan Leader Liang Ye spoke, “Do not panic. The tremors caused by the shockwave attacks can be avoided by jumping clear.”
Ye Yu, sensing the group’s growing confusion, promptly reminded them.
Liang Ye continued, “Leng Nuan, take half of our members and attack the Ancient Snowman’s left arm from its left side. The rest follow me in assaulting its right arm from the right. If we break both arms, it loses its ability to resist, and we can wear it down until its remaining health is gone.”
Despite Ye Yu’s precise instructions, their previous battles had never confronted such an instance, so they were somewhat flustered. Yet, with Ye Yu at the helm, his presence served as a calming force, invigorating their morale.
The subsequent offensive unfolded effortlessly. With seamless cooperation, their attacks grew fiercer, each unleashing their strongest blows upon the Snowman’s arms. The Ancient Snowman’s health dwindled down to forty, and a weakened state emerged upon its body. In this vulnerable condition, it was the perfect moment for them to strike.
Now, the Snowman had no means to resist; its ground-shaking assaults failed to affect the group, and under Ye Yu’s meticulous command, they surrounded it tightly, launching a relentless barrage.
However, the instance’s attributes and health were calculated based on the number of participants, so five hundred still struggled against this massive foe. The lower its health, the harder it was to deplete.
The Ancient Snowman had a unique trait: as its health decreased, its defense increased.
Minute by minute, the group’s coordinated attacks finally broke both arms of the Ancient Snowman. It howled again, this time in utter defeat, its legs and arms shattered, robbed of all resistance. No matter how formidable its defenses, it could only endure their attacks as its life dropped further. The group breathed a silent sigh of relief; even Ye Yu was grateful for the time spent, as the Snowman’s health was now reduced to ten.
But suddenly, the Ancient Snowman appeared to go mad, a terrifying surge of energy gathering around it.
Ye Yu’s eyes narrowed, the corners of his lips curling into a subtle smile.
This was exactly what he had been waiting for.
Liang Ye shouted, “Retreat!”
Hearing his command, everyone immediately withdrew. But as they retreated, Ye Yu’s figure shot forward, charging straight at the Ancient Snowman.
Immediately, the five members of Liang Ye’s fixed team followed in quick succession, displaying a perfect tacit understanding.
Dark Night summoned a green radiance around him, transforming into five beams of light that rushed toward the other five. Each was enveloped in a shimmering green glow, several buffs effortlessly applied to them.
Cracks began to appear on the Ancient Snowman’s body, and everyone instantly understood its intention.
Self-destruction.
With only ten health remaining, the damage from its self-detonation would be devastating.
The explosion’s power was calculated based on the remaining health; at ten, it could severely injure all five hundred, ejecting them from the instance.
Clearly, the designers of Divine Ruin had invested great effort in this mechanic—though the rewards were rich, the risks were equally daunting.
However, unfortunately for the Ancient Snowman,
it was no match for Ye Yu’s team.
Liang Ye plucked his ancient zither, streams of violet light shot forth, striking the Snowman at precisely critical points.
With just four effortless attacks, the Snowman’s health dropped to six.
Yi Xiu Da Da controlled his puppet, the right fist bursting with thunderous energy. The lightning rolling over its fist carried a destructive momentum; it struck the Snowman’s fractured right arm, eliciting a cry of pain.
Five.
Xin Ai, spear in hand, leapt forward. Her spear glinted with silver light, appearing from afar as a cold flash, reaching the Snowman first and piercing its body.
A cold shard arrived before the spear, then the spear followed like a dragon!
Boom.
Four.
The crowd was stunned by the damage inflicted by Liang Ye, Yi Xiu Da Da, and Xin Ai. But when Qu Xiao Zheng Dang A Dang dashed forward, their shock intensified—one might say their pupils contracted in disbelief.
Qu Xiao Zheng Dang A Dang extended both hands, daggers gleaming with dazzling silver. His agile form leapt onto the Snowman, maneuvering with ease despite the heat radiating from its cracked body.
His silhouette landed on the Snowman’s right shoulder; with a tap of his toes, he vaulted upward. The light from his twin daggers suddenly intensified, his figure rising fifty meters above the Snowman’s crown before somersaulting downward.
Whoosh.
Twin streaks of silver enveloped him, leaving only two fiercely sharp beams of light.
Whoosh.
The daggers struck; Qu Xiao Zheng Dang A Dang dropped to one knee atop the Snowman’s crown, the blades plunging deep. With a resounding clang, the Snowman trembled violently.
Two.
Liang Ye called out, “Now! Long-range attacks to the Snowman’s head!”
At his words, the ranged classes wasted no time. Seeing Liang Ye’s command, they unleashed their most powerful attacks, each dazzling strike blasting the Snowman’s head.
Thunder rolled.
Ye Yu’s eyes flashed with icy light. He spoke, “We retreat.”
The six instantly withdrew, clearly avoiding what was about to occur.
Countless attacks hammered the Snowman’s head, and the resulting explosion was devastating—a blink of an eye, and the Snowman’s head detonated.
The Ancient Snowman, poised for a self-destruction, was forcibly interrupted. The crimson-lit cracks diminished abruptly.
The Ancient Snowman of the Heavenly Snow Lake—!
