Chapter Fourteen: The Yan Family's Supreme Martial Technique

A sweet feeling blossomed in Shike Xin’s heart as she lowered her head, smiling softly with pursed lips. “What are you talking about? Shang Xiang is still here...” Suddenly catching on, she lifted her head angrily and shouted, “Yan Tian, what did you just say? ‘Working hard for you all’? Besides me, who else is that ‘you all’?”
“I don’t know,” Yan Tian replied with an innocent look. “I really don’t know. Maybe a few, maybe a dozen or so—who knows? Probably all beauties!” He shrugged nonchalantly after speaking.
“Oh, Yan Tian, you flirtatious scoundrel! I’ll bite you to death!” Shike Xin pounced on him, grabbing his arm and sinking her teeth in fiercely. Yan Tian screamed in pain, begging for mercy repeatedly until the fish in the pot started to burn, at which point Shike Xin reluctantly let him go.
Sun Shang Xiang watched the playful scuffle with a gentle smile and said, “But speaking of which… Yan Tian, if you work hard, it’s not impossible for you to get into Peking University! Sister Bing Tong said you might be a rare ‘born genius’!”
This was the second time Yan Tian had heard the term “born genius,” the first being from Bing Tong as well. He had forgotten to ask what it truly meant. Now with Shike Xin nearby, he didn’t intend to let her know more, so he casually changed the subject.
After bustling about for forty to fifty minutes, a sumptuous lunch was ready. Shike Xin and Sun Shang Xiang helped Yan Tian carry the dishes to the Eight Immortals table in the main hall. Once everything was set, Yan Tian invited Bing Tong and the others to sit down.
To celebrate the long-silent household coming alive again, Yan Tian specially opened a bottle of red wine and a bottle of Maotai. Both were treasured collections left by his grandfather—only fifteen bottles in total. Yan Tian planned to save them for savoring in his old age, but today, in high spirits, he splurged and opened both at once.
The red wine was meant for Bing Tong and the other three ladies, while the Maotai was reserved for him and Shike Xin. Despite her delicate, young lady appearance, Shike Xin had a considerable tolerance for alcohol since childhood. Yan Tian still remembered the embarrassing incident when they once sneaked to steal his grandfather’s liquor and were caught, ending up kneeling in punishment.
Though there was wine, the lunch atmosphere was not particularly lively.
Bing Tong seemed somewhat awkward, quietly eating while shooting Yan Tian deadly glares from time to time.
Xia Tianling was polite and humble, but beneath her gentle exterior hid a cold indifference that kept others at a distance.
Gongsun Jing, true to his nature, adhered strictly to the surgeon’s code: no red envelopes, no smiles, no polite words.
Only Shike Xin and Sun Shang Xiang were a bit more lively, preventing the table from becoming too dull.
Yan Tian’s cooking skills received unanimous approval. Though only Shike Xin and Sun Shang Xiang voiced their praise, the fact that the entire table was cleaned off suggested Bing Tong and the other three ladies were also quite satisfied.

After the meal, Shike Xin and Sun Shang Xiang took responsibility for clearing the dishes. Bing Tong, Xia Tianling, and Gongsun Jing sat in the main hall drinking tea and chatting, while Yan Tian slipped back to his room. He pulled out his notebook, which contained excerpts from jade inscriptions, and began searching for any record of the method to impart spiritual power.
His search immediately thrilled him. Upon casually flipping a page, he found a startling title:
“The Yan Family’s Supreme Secret Technique!”
Yan Tian laughed wildly inside his heart, eagerly studying it.
But upon closer inspection, he noticed a subtitle beneath “The Yan Family’s Supreme Secret Technique”:
“The Art of Seduction Under Heaven.”
“What the hell! Did I copy this myself? When did I ever write this down?” Yan Tian scratched his head, muttering. It was indeed in his handwriting, but try as he might, he couldn’t recall ever copying such content. Normally, even with poor memory, reviewing something once read would leave some impression!
Life is originally uneventful; fools create their own troubles. If he couldn’t figure it out, he wouldn’t dwell on it—that was Yan Tian’s usual style. The title was both intriguing and practical, so he didn’t bother investigating further and threw himself into studying it with utmost enthusiasm.
“The Yan Family’s Supreme Secret Technique—The Art of Seduction Under Heaven. Written by Yan Xuanhuang.
“As a member of the Yan family, one should inherit the fine traditions of our ancestors and become a qualified playboy. Martial arts come second; seduction is paramount. First, let us recite the slogan of our Yan family heroes—‘My harem’s my will! Seduce the world!’—Preface.”

“A qualified playboy must use every possible means to make women fall for him without hesitation. And when he tires of them, he must use every method to ensure they leave willingly and without grievance. Furthermore, he must make everyone sympathize with him, pity him, and care for him. The woman who heartlessly abandoned him must be despised and cursed.
“Now, let us examine whether you have the potential to be a playboy.
“First, are you handsome? Are you sunny? Do you have a charming smile and melancholic eyes? Do you sport a scruffy stubble and masterful knife skills? Do you have a height and physique that make women feel safe at first glance? Does your handsome face make beauties sob and beg to be with you at the flick of a pinky? Have nothing? That’s okay.
“Do you have money? Do you possess treasures, gold, silver, bills, and jewels that can dazzle women? Do you have power? Do you hold a high position that forces women to obey and vow never to leave you? Still no? Still okay.
“Do you have talent? Do you possess an artistic temperament that resonates deeply with lovesick young girls? Do you have a sharp tongue that can bring the dead to life or condemn the living to death; that can make heaven and earth weep, ghosts and gods mourn? Don’t even have that? Still okay.
“Do you understand martial arts? Do you have heroic passion that covers the world? Do you possess peerless divine skills that command submission from all directions? Do you have romantic moves that make women hysterically chase you, throwing themselves into your arms? No? Don’t worry, still okay.
“Of course, if your ideal is just a simple life of farming and spring water, then none of the above matters, but you don’t need to continue reading…”
“What the hell is this nonsense!” Yan Tian finally couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
Just as he despised this ancestor named Yan Xuanhuang, another subtitle suddenly appeared after the Art of Seduction:
“The Divine Art of Exchanging Glances for Dual Cultivation!”
